Summer Reading Fun Challenge

Over the summer holidays, the library always run the reading challenge which many of our children enjoy participating in. Even though the library isn't running the challenge this year, it would still be wonderful if your child could continue their reading for fun over the summer break. Aim to read some different types of books over the next few weeks and I would love to hear about them when we return in September. I would love your child to write a book review of one of the books they have read and we can share their thoughts in September. Feel free to use the book review format below or create one of your own.

Talk for Writing

Stonehenge we are carrying on with out current Talk for Writing packs. Monsters for Year 6 and Wonderful Wizards for Year 5.

Remember to keep working on your current Talk for Writing learning pack. We are having lots of fun here at school using our spy names and designing our own spy gadgets as part of the Year 6 Talk for Writing pack. We are looking forward to creating our wonderful writing next week. I hope that our lovely Year 5 children are enjoying their writing pack this week.  Please remember to keep sending me your lovely learning.

Reading task - read the three texts in the booklet below and write sentences telling me what you have read.

99 Club Challenge

This week I would like you all to challenge yourself to completing one of the sheets from 99 club. Stonehenge children, you know which club you are on so just start where you left off. You need to time yourselves and remember that you only have 5 minutes to complete each club challenge! Grown ups, why don't you have a go too! It's brilliant and a great way for the children to learn and remember their times tables. You'll find all the 99 club information in the parent information section of our school website. Good luck everyone and let me know how you get on by emailing me or sending me a message on dojo.

Remember to continue working through the Talk for Writing packs, you've got until the end of next week to finish them. I'm looking forward to seeing your amazing writing and hearing what you thought of the packs. Keep writing, everyone.

Message for Year 6

Hi all, as well as focusing on the home learning that I have set you this week, why don't you start to have a look at some of the BBC Bitesize learning for KS3. It just gives you some great ideas of some of the learning that you might do when you start at your secondary schools.

Also, Stonehenge keep remembering to have a go at 99 Club, TT Rockstars and Sumdog. Can you beat your last result?

In this section you will find all the tasks for this coming week. smiley

Welcome to Stonehenge Class

Year 5 and Year 6

Welcome to our class called Stonehenge, we are the eldest of the school and the tallest! As we are the oldest, we have lots of responsibilities, you will find us around school always helping out. Our class teacher is Mrs Orr and our wonderful TA is Miss Coakley. Scroll down to see some pictures of our time this year, we are having so much fun. We hope you enjoy looking at them.

Welcome back to term 4

Our topic for the next two terms is the Vikings. We will be focusing on learning who the Vikings were, where they came from, when they came to Britain and why they came to Britain.  We will also be investigating the legacy left by the Vikings. I would love the children to investigate Vikings at home, researching areas that they are interested in. In Science this term, we will be learning about Light. We will be learning about the anatomy of the eye, how we see and how shadows are formed.

World Book Day

We will be celebrating World Book Day in style this week by making our own wooden spoons and cakes inspired by our favourite books.  In addition, we are also trying out a "book tasting" event during the day, where the children will visit our book cafe and explore a variety of book genres, thinking about the types of books that they might enjoy reading. Here are some ideas from last year.

Knowledge Organisers 2019/2020

SATS Information

The Year 6 children are focusing on their SAT tests that will take place in May 2020. We are working hard at school to provide them with opportunities to experience the types of questions that they may be asked. At home, it would be very helpful to begin to spend time practicing some of the questions using some of the revision guides that parents can either buy themselves or order from us. An order form has recently been sent home. If you have any questions about the SAT tests, don't hesitate to speak to me.

Lavington Cross Country Sport

Stonehenge were invited to Lavington School for cross country tournament. They all participated with a great attitude, and showed what it truly means to be supportive. A big well done to all.

 Dance Show

We were thrilled to end term 3 by participating in the Around the World Dance Show at Dauntsey's. The children had an amazing time rehearsing and performing our Diwali dance in front of pupils and parents from other local schools. They did really well and made the staff feel so proud. Can't wait till next year!
