Aspire, Belong, Love at St Barnabas
Welcome to St Barnabas CEVC Primary School. Our vision is rooted in the words of John, “"Love each other as I have loved you."- John 15:12
Our Values — How We Live Them Every Day
At St Barnabas CofE Nursery and Primary School, our values of Love, Aspiration and Belonging are much more than words — they are the foundation of our community and shape everything we do. These values grow out of our Christian foundation and help every member of our school family thrive, learn and make a positive impact.
Love
Love is the heart of our school. Inspired by the words “Love each other as I have loved you” (John 15:12), we show care, kindness and compassion in every interaction. Love looks like:
-
caring relationships between children and staff, where every pupil is known, valued and supported;
-
children encouraged to show kindness, forgiveness and respect to one another;
-
celebrating each other’s successes and supporting each other through challenges, creating a community where everyone feels safe and uplifted.
Aspiration
Aspiration at St Barnabas means inspiring all children to aim high, grow in confidence and discover what they can achieve. We live this out by:
-
setting high expectations for learning and behaviour and helping every pupil reach their full potential;
-
providing a rich, inspiring curriculum and a wide range of opportunities in music, sport, arts and enrichment;
-
encouraging children to be curious, resilient and confident learners who confidently tackle new challenges with enthusiasm.
Belonging
Belonging is about making every child feel part of our school family. This means:
-
valuing diversity and celebrating every child as an individual;
-
building strong, respectful relationships between pupils, staff, families and the wider community;
-
creating an inclusive environment where every child feels secure, supported and proud to be themselves.
Values in Action
Our values are woven into daily school life:
-
In lessons, we embed values through learning that encourages collaboration, reflection and kindness.
-
In collective worship, we explore Christian teachings and reflect on how love, aspiration and belonging guide our behaviour and choices.
-
In playtimes, clubs and events, children are encouraged to support each other, build friendships and contribute positively to the life of the school.
We believe that when children are rooted in love, supported to aspire and feel a strong sense of belonging, they grow into confident, compassionate and capable young people — ready to make a meaningful contribution to the world around them.
