Year 1/2

Monday 8th September

This year in Forest School Year1 / 2 have been working hard with their science in our sessions. The children have discussed what is living and non living and how we characterise this. Once they decide what it meant to be living and non living we organised items into different circles. Lots of the children decided it was great as they could stand inside as they were living. They had lots of fun with the discussions as well as team building and working together.

Monday 15th September

This week in Forest school the children discussed and created an item out of leaves that used to be living but no longer is. Before heading down to the forest the children and I recapped their previous learning about living and non living, after this we then discussed that in nature a lot of things that were living are no longer alive especially as we go into winter months. This enabled the children to discuss how this cycle helps the environment around them. They denied to work together as a whole class and created an amazing work of art. They made one large leaf but out of lots of dead leaves it looked great.

Monday 22nd September

Year 1 and 2 had lots of fun showing their finds in the forest. The found something that was living and something that used to be living but is no longer alive.

Monday 29th September

The children had lots of fun incorporating science into their forest school session today. The children worked in teams to be able to create a wormery.  They discussed what they needed for the worms, what they may like but not always need. They then worked together to create them. Well done!

Monday 6th October

Today in forest school the children worked well together and also created their own tree faces. We had an amazing photographer in charge of the IPad, Ivy. She took pictures of as many children's work as she could. Once children completed todays challenge some children went on a deer hunt, others worked together to create images with the leaves that have fallen from the trees. The rest of children used different equipment and climbed trees. Everyone had lots of fun!
